Partially Developed Beings
Most teachings warn about opening yourself up to the inner levels through meditation or other exercises, without being closely connected to some developed teacher and their past teachers. This is because of the possibility of interference from partially developed beings on the inner levels.These may be humans who have partially developed themselves while on the Earth or beings previous to humans on the earth (Jinns) or less frequently, beings from a more distant place. They range from reasonably positive to quite negative – just as humans do. The more negative of this range play on people through that persons negative emotions.
Normal humans suffer from their influence and usually only a persons Inner Guide protects them. If you harbour negative emotions then the Inner Guide cannot prevent access through that negativity.
Looking for psychic powers, including the foreseeing of the future, attracts the attention of partially developed beings within the inner worlds.
Some of these beings, having existed on the Earth for 10s of thousands of years within the Etheric realm and with some connection into the Astral, they have more experience there than even developed teachers. They can enhance any persons attempt to gain power on these levels and can predict with great accuracy the future course of events on the earth, passing that information on to whoever looks for it.
If you insist on 'opening yourself up to the inner worlds' through quiet concentration, as some psychics deliberately practice, some foolish teachers teach, and some innocent students follow, then the Inner Guide is powerless to protect you.
It is better to first refine and strengthen yourself internally. Then at a later time the intelligence developed on each of those levels, will gradually, with its own timing, naturally spread beyond yourself into the inner worlds on that same level.
Protection
Normal people should avoid all contact with Etheric beings. If you begin some inner practice ensure that it is under the guidance of a well balanced, internally experienced teacher.If you feel affected by these low-level influences, pray to your teacher, your Inner Guide, or whatever concept of the Divine you hold. Also continuously repeat a prayer or say a mantra.
With the development of Human#4 (past 3rd Initiation) a person is more than equal to this interference, but may still suffer their influence. The main risk with a developed person is the temptation of power.
After the 4th initiation (Human#5) a person's Being is centred on the 4th energy level while reaching for the 5th. Their field of activity is within the deepmental (celestial). Then that person is beyond the negative influence from partially developed and negative beings.
Jinns (Djinn)
Jinns were previous to humans on the earth. When humans were 'quickened' the Jinns were no longer able to come into bodies to develop. Those based in the physical and etheric levels simply quietly faded away (as humans on that level do after death) but those past the 2nd initiation continued to exist on the astral and etheric levels.They manifest on the etheric levels, returning to the astral when they die.The Jinns range from reasonably positive to quite negative. They have their own type of organised society.
Their chance for progress is to replace some failing human soul in a body. Then they shift to the human line of development and forget their previous existence as a Jinn.
The most powerful Jinns have contact with the middle levels of the astral while the least powerful have some contact only with the lower levels, but their main level of influence is the Etheric.

Humans who have cut themselves off from their own Spirit, are especially susceptible to manipulation, most commonly manifesting as a ruthless power seeking. These people typically fight their way to the top of the political, industrial and financial world and there serve, occasionally knowingly but usally unknowingly, their non-human influences.
There, cut off from their own Divine Conscience, they are unconsciously pushed to create chaos and cause suffering to the human race, unaware of the unfortunate fate that awaits them after death.
Most esoteric teachings recognize the Jinns existence and give them some respect while advising against any involvement with them.
One of the Old Teachers told me that about 20 of his students were well under the influence of the Jinns. He would send out light to each of those people daily, but if a person persisted with the negative states that were allowing access to the Jinns, then that teacher would withdraw the help after a year.
At that point he stated, the person 'was stuffed' (without much hope). He worked this way because he said the Jinns were also beings who deserved their chance at future progress.

Many years ago one of my friends bought an old house but when he went to renovate and live there many strange things happened. Noises, closing doors, objects flying around the rooms. He was told by one of the Old Teachers that it was a Jinn who lived there who was trying to chase him away.

Numerous are the examples of developed people who begin in a relatively humble way, progress to believing they are the most developed person in the world, then end up certain they are the world saviour.
This is a sure sign of influence from the Jinns and will certainly block all inner progress in a Human#4. If this happens at an earlier stage, then that person may be lost to the Jinn.
