Born in Zhejiang province, China, in the same town as Zheng Manqing, Ni Hua-Ching studied Daoist internal arts from a young age.
He knew Yang Cheng-Fu and studied Taiji with Cheng-Fu's older brother, Yang Shao-Hou.
He also studied with Zhang Qinling (Chang Ching-Ling), a senior student of both Yang Cheng-Fu and Cheng-Fu's father Yang Chien-Hou.
